Description
Workshop Overview:
Take your mould-making skills to the next level in this hands-on workshop, where you will learn how to create a multiple-piece plaster mould suitable for press or slip casting. If you’ve worked with single-piece drop-out moulds before, you already understand their benefits for making multiples and sets—this workshop is about expanding on that knowledge to create more complex moulds.
We’ll begin by introducing plaster moulds as a valuable tool in studio practice, followed by a discussion of various moulding techniques. You’ll learn which types of objects are best suited to multi-piece moulds, and explore the necessary tools and materials required for the project. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have the confidence to construct your own multiple-piece mould and may even leave with a finished or partially finished mould ready for use in your own studio.
What to bring:
- Journal for note-taking
- Morning tea and lunch
- Dust mask (I recommend a N95 or KN-95)
- All materials, equipment, and models will be provided. Also included are instructional handouts to guide you through the process.
