Beginner Classes at KudoClay Studio

Welcome to our
Beginner Pottery Classes!

Whether you’re eager to explore hand‑building or dive straight into wheel throwing (or both!), our classes lay the foundation for confident, creative clay work in a fun, supportive environment. We keep class sizes small, so everyone receives personalised guidance.

Many students begin with hand‑building to gain familiarity with clay’s behaviour—that’s a great pathway into wheel throwing, which adds excitement and a dynamic dimension to your practice. While the wheel can be more challenging, it’s also incredibly rewarding and fun.

Choose the class that fits your interest—hand‑building, wheel throwing, or a combined beginner’s experience—then fill in the enrolment form below to secure your spot and begin your pottery journey. All clay, glazes, and firings are included in the enrolment fee.

Beginner Pottery Wheel Class: Hands On with the Wheel

Curious about throwing clay on the wheel? Whether you’ve tried the wheel before or this is your very first time, our Beginner Wheel class offers a welcoming and practical introduction to one of pottery’s most dynamic techniques.

In this 10-week course, you’ll learn how to prepare, centre, and shape clay on the wheel while developing confidence, control, and creative freedom. It’s a hands-on experience that focuses on learning the process—not just the end result—with plenty of support along the way.

Course Focus:

The potter’s wheel is an exciting and tactile tool, but like any skill, it takes practice. This class offers the time, space, and guidance to get comfortable with the wheel while developing the foundational techniques that will serve you in all areas of pottery.

Curriculum Highlights:

Clay Preparation
Get to know your material—learn how to wedge, reclaim, and manage your clay for the wheel.

Centring & Throwing Basics
Master the techniques of centring clay and pulling up forms. You’ll start with simple cylinders, working toward small bowls and cups.

Trimming & Finishing
Learn how to trim your pieces for a clean, professional look. Explore simple decorative options to personalise your work.

Form Development & Handles
Take your skills further by adding handles, exploring shape variations, and creating functional forms like mugs, tumblers, or small vases.
